United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
We support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through our adoption of circular design and business principles and the Cradle to Cradle Certified® product standard. Through our commitment to maintaining Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold certification for nearly our entire product collection, we contribute to multiple sustainable development goals.

SDG 1 No poverty
Cradle to Cradle Certified® enables companies to contribute modestly to this SDG. To achieve Cradle Certified® certification, we developed a strategy for identifying and addressing facilities and suppliers within our supply chain associated with a high risk of paying poverty-level wages. As a baseline, we also verified that we meet all legal minimums.
SDG 3 Good health and wellbeing
By adopting comprehensive approach to identifying, assessing, and maximizing the safety of chemicals used to manufacture our Cradle to Cradle Certified® products as part of our certification compliance. To meet the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold level requirements, chemicals and materials intentionally added to the product and/or released with effluent during the product manufacturing stage must be known as safe for human health and the environment during final manufacturing and use, or alternately, exposure to any hazardous chemicals that are used during these stages must be unlikely to be or expected to be negligible.
SDG 6 Clean water and sanitation
Mosa treats water as a precious, shared resource. Our compliance with Cradle to Cradle Certified® water stewardship requirements means that we ensure any manufacturing effluents do not contain substances problematic for human health or the environment, including aquatic species. We also ensure product-related chemicals released within effluents are optimized, and any chemicals marked as problematic are kept flowing in systems of nutrient recovery.
SDG 7 Affordable and clean energy
Mosa is committed to decarbonizing our footprint by accelerating the shift to renewable energy to power our manufacturing processes. To accomplish this, and to meet the requirements of Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold, we are growing the volume of energy we consume from regenerative sources with the aim of increasing our demand for renewable energy over time.
SDG 8 Decent work and economic growth
As a leading employer in Maastricht, The Netherlands, Mosa recognizes our responsibility to provide decent work and to support sustainable economic growth regionally, nationally, and beyond. As part of our commitment to enabling sustainable development, we are embedding responsible, sustainable practices across every aspect of our operations and administration, including our hiring practices, diversity commitment, fair wages, and training and development. Our contributions towards this SDG are furthered by our adoption of Cradle to Cradle Certified® product standard requirements, which sets forth a regenerative approach to economic growth predicated on a system of responsible production and consumption.
SDG 9 Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation
By setting forth a circular system for manufacturing products using safe, healthy materials that can remain in cycles of use and reuse, Cradle to Cradle Certified® provides Mosa with a transformative framework for resilient, sustainable industrialization designed to drive positive social, environmental, and economic impact. By designing and making products using safe, healthy materials that can remain in cycles of use and reuse – and by building new take-back systems for the collection, reuse and/or remanufacturing of our products and materials – we are supporting the growth of sustainable industrialization upheld by resilient infrastructure.
SDG 11 Sustainable cities and communities
Circular materials made with safe ingredients are the building block of a circular built environment. By achieving Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold for nearly all our products, Mosa is directly helping to enable development of circular, sustainable buildings, cities, and communities. Through certification, we are also addressing a range of key issues critical to the sustainability of cities and communities, such as clean air, waste management, and the transition to renewable energy.
SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production
Mosa directly supports and fosters responsible consumption and production practices through our adoption of Cradle to Cradle Certified® as a continuous improvement pathway for designing and making products that are safe, sustainable, and made for a circular economy. Achieving Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold certification for nearly all our products also provides our customers with third-party assurance that our products are sustainably made to power a circular economy.
SDG 13 Climate action
Mosa is operationalizing our commitment to climate action in a variety of ways, including our efforts to drive the transition to renewable energy for our manufacturing processes. As part of our Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold certification, we have also identified significant climate impacts associated with our products (particularly energy consumption and waste), and to develop and implement action plans to address those impacts through our renewable strategy, circular product design, and a circular business model.
SDG 15 Life on land
Mosa makes every effort to halt biodiversity loss and to safeguard and cultivate life on land by proactively addressing the critical environmental impacts of our operations, including conserving water, transitioning to renewable energy, minimizing waste, and making products designed to power the circular economy.
