Vectorworks

The Vectorworks product line offers professional design solutions for architecture, interior construction, the entertainment industry, landscaping, landscape architecture and mechanical engineering. The instruction below will help you to import our Mosa products in your Vectorworks modelling software.

Prepare

1. Prepare Vectorworks for retrieving the files

  1. Go to mosa.com and search for Vectorworks.
  2. Submit your data to receive a download link.
  3. Open the mail and select the plug-in for your version.
  4. In Vectorworks open the 'Plug-in Manager' via 'Tools', 'Plug-ins'.
  5. Select 'Third Party Plug-ins', 'Install' and select the .zip file.
  6. Restart Vectorworks for the plug-in to become available.
  7. Edit 'Current Workspace' via 'Tools', 'Workspaces' to make the plug-in active.
  8. At 'Menu Commands', 'Import/Export' search for 'Import Mosa Pattern'.
  9. At Menu Menu’s search for 'Import' and drag the command in a desired location.
  10. The tool is now available at your selected location.

Import

1. Export from the Pattern Generator and import into Vectorworks

  1. Go to the Pattern Generator
  2. Select a tile pattern
  3. Select the 'Export' menu
  4. Pick your file for Vectorworks.
  5. Open Vectorworks.
  6. Select 'Import Mosa Pattern' via 'File', 'Import'.
  7. Select the downloaded .zip file.
  8. Check the files you want to add to your project and press 'Ok'.

Use

1. Draw the base on which you want to apply the different file types

  1. The hatch can be applied to a surface object.
  2. The image can also be applied to a surface object.
  3. The texture needs to be applied to a 3D object.

2. At the file to the object

  1. Drag the hatch to a surface object.
  2. Drag the image to a surface object.
  3. Drag the texture to a 3D object.
  4. Make the texture visible by opening and closing the building element.

3. Change size and orientation of the surfaces

  1. Select object with hatch and the 'Attribute Mapping Tool'.
  2. Select a side of a hatch to move it over the surface.
  3. Select a midpoint to rotate the hatch over the surface.
  4. Select object with the image and the 'Attribute Mapping Tool'.
  5. Select a side of an image to move it over the surface.
  6. Select a corner of an image to start rescaling it to size.
  7. Retrieve the texture size from the readme document.
  8. Select the building element and the 'Attribute Mapping Tool'.
  9. Select plane to edit the texture on this object.
  10. Select a side of a hatch to move it over the surface.

4. Connect a hatch to a texture

  1. Right click on the texture file and select edit.
  2. Press the 'Edit Surface Hatch' button.
  3. Pick hatch at 'Surface hatch' and select the corresponding hatch.
  4. Zoom in and displace the hatch to align with the texture. (Only in Y offset should be sufficient.)
  5. Check the difference by changing the render style.

5. Making alteration to a imported pattern

  1. Check the PT-code of the existing pattern.
  2. Type the PT-code in to the search bar of the Mosa Pattern Generator.
  3. Make changes to the pattern.
  4. Save the pattern to your MyMosa account.
  5. Export the pattern to Vectorworks.
  6. Import the pattern in Vectorworks.
  7. Delete the existing pattern.
  8. Select the new pattern as replacement.

6. Calculate quantities of products

  1. Create a report or a copy a report from another file.
  2. Open the report from the 'Attribute Manager'.
  3. Specs and quantities of wall and floor surface are visible.
  4. After changes of the model recalculate the report.
  5. Check the product quantities by opening the hyperlink in the report.
