Lush Liverpool: cosmetics meet sustainable ceramic tiles

After Vienna, the story continues - Lush chooses once again for Mosa’s sustainable interior design materials

Over the years, Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics has grown as a global brand. This growth is not only thanks to their exceptional products, however to a large extent it is also the result of their philosophy and environmental choices that have been made. We asked Katie Tabram from Shop & Space Planning Team at Lush, about their sustainable philosophy and working together with similar minded partners and the importance here.

Sustainable interior design: materials for Lush stores

After the first collaboration between Lush and Mosa in Vienna, the sustainable partnership continues in other cities. After all, Lush stores are furnished with the same philosophy. ‘When determining the store layout, sustainability will be the starting point. From there on, choices are made about sustainable interior design, materials, structure and components like sustainable tile flooring,’ Tabram explains.

This philosophy makes visiting a Lush store an experience to remember. It’s the smell that lures you in at first, but once inside you’re struck by the contrast of natural materials and neutral tones against the rainbow colours of Lush’s natural product range.

Tabram elaborates: ‘At Lush we go the extra mile to ensure that the design of our shops fit within the ethics of our brand. It is important to us that we guarantee that everything we purchase as a company is sourced in a considerate and responsible manner, from the ingredients that make up our beautiful products to the sustainable interior design materials we use to create our shops.’

Two companies, one ideology

With sustainability as a leading factor, an inviting store design should not be forgotten. Of course, that is also a top priority for Tabram. ‘We want to demonstrate that it is possible to create attractive and innovative store designs that do not compromise the planet and showcase our products in all their glory. We make sustainability and appeal work together in our designs.’

With this philosophy and corresponding core values in mind, the Lush brand perfectly fits Mosa’s ideology. As sustainability is one of Mosa’s core values, it takes top priority in the development of new products, responsible production processes and optimal working conditions. Nearly the entire tile collection has been awarded the Cradle To Cradle Certified® Gold. Mosa is the world’s first ceramic tile company to have accomplished that. Continuously striving to be environmentally responsible, Lush and Mosa share the same philosophy.

"The brand new opening was the perfect opportunity for us to continue our ongoing relationship with Mosa."

Lush’s new flagship in Liverpool: sustainable tile flooring

Tabram speaks proudly of the collaboration with Mosa: ‘We have been working together with Mosa for several years and Mosa’s sustainable ceramic tiles can be found on our shop walls and floors across the globe. Mosa demonstrates a commitment to responsible manufacturing, using healthy materials as well as showing that it is possible to close the loop on waste with their Cradle To Cradle philosophy. As such, they fall perfectly in line with our belief that material considered as “waste” is valuable and should be treated accordingly.’

Recently, Lush’s new flagship project in Liverpool was opened. ‘The brand new opening was the perfect opportunity for us to continue our ongoing relationship with Mosa,’ says Tabram. ‘With over 3000 m2 of surface area to cover, we installed Mosa tiles that provide us with an elegant, natural, easy to maintain sustainable tile flooring that will stand the test of time.’
