ArchiCAD

ArchiCAD is an architectural BIM CAD software for Macintosh and Windows. ArchiCAD offers computer aided solutions for handling all common aspects of aesthetics and engineering during the whole design process of the built environment — buildings, interiors, urban areas and more.

The instruction below will help you to import our Mosa products in your ArchiCAD modelling software.

BIM prepare

Import

1. Export from the Pattern Generator and import into ArchiCAD

  1. Go to the Pattern Generator.
  2. Select a tile pattern.
  3. Select the 'Export' menu.
  4. Pick your file for ArchiCAD.
  5. Open the download folder.
  6. Unzip the folder.
  7. Open the 'Library Manager'.
  8. Open de 'Embedded Library' tab.
  9. Add the image files and press 'Ok'.
  10. Open the 'Attribute Manager Building Materials' tab.
  11. Select the attribute manager .xml file in the download folder.
  12. Add the file by name to your directory.
  13. Press the 'Apply' button and after that 'Create'.
  14. Press 'Ok' and the material is added to your library.
BIM prepare

Use

1.  Drawing a floor (already pre-set):

  1. Select the slab tool from the design tool menu.
  2. Draw the tile surface.

2. Drawing a wall (set by hand):

  1. Select the wall tool from the design tool menu.
  2. Select the 'Finish-Wall' from the layer menu.
  3. Select single layer wall and the pattern from the drop down.
  4. Draw the wall in your document.
  5. Adjust the thickness of the wall.

3. Change view

  1. At 3D styles select 'Simple Shading' to view the texture.
  2. Select 'Technical Drawing' to view the joints.

4. Manipulating the surface:

  1. Select the element you want to change.
  2. Go to 'Document', 'Creative Imaging', 'Align 3D Texture', 'Set origin'.
  3. Select a point where the origin of the texture surface should start.
  4. Select the element you want to change.
  5. Go to 'Document', 'Creative Imaging', 'Align 3D Texture', 'Set direction'.
  6. Select a rotation point and insert the rotation in degrees.

5. Checking information:

  1. General properties of the element you will find in the 'Properties' menu.
  2. Go to the 'Building Materials Manager' for specific information regarding the tile surface.
  3. Product quantities per surface area you will find via a link back to the Pattern Generator.
  4. Basic technical properties are displayed in the 'Building Materials Manager'.
